Frequently asked questions
Is a Kei dump truck worth paying more for?
If you haul loose material often, usually yes. A dump bed unloads gravel, soil, feed or mulch in seconds, with no shoveling. Check the pump and seals before you buy, since hydraulic repairs add up.
Does a dump bed lower the payload?
The rated load stays at 350 kg, about 770 lb, but the truck itself gets heavier, so a loaded dump truck pulls away slower and needs more room to stop. The special bodies guide has the numbers.
What should I check on a Kei dump truck?
Run the bed up and down several times. Look for leaks at the pump, hoses and cylinder seals, check the hinge pins and the safety prop, and look for rust under the body. Some beds are driven by a PTO from the transmission and some by an electric pump, so ask which yours has.
